How to reach Santa Caterina by train

There is a reasonable frequent train service from Milano Central Station to Tirano (the nearest train station), followed by a direct bus service to Bormio. When you get in Bormio, you change the bus to Santa Caterina Valfurva. The journey takes two and a half hours from Milan to Tirano, an hour from Tirano to Bormio and 15 minutes from Bormio to Santa Caterina Valfurva (Valtellina). It isn't expensive.

It's linked up to the main cities by a new motorway and a fast railway system. • FROM MILANO Tangenziale Nord uscita Cinisello; Superstrada per Lecco fino a Colico; SS 38 per Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio, Santa Caterina Valfurva • FROM BRESCIA A4 Motorway, exit Brescia Ovest, direction Lago d’Iseo, express road SS42 Breno, Edolo, SS39 to Aprica, Tirano; SS 38 to Santa Caterina Valfurva • FROM BERGAMO SS 342 to Cisano Bergamasco (17 km approx.), then SS 639 for 10 km to Lecco. Proceed on express road to Colico, SS38 to Sondrio, Tirano, Bormio, Santa Caterina Valfurva • FROM ZERNEZ La Drossa - Tunnel “Munt la Schera” Drossa - Ponte del Gallo, Livigno; SS301 for Santa Caterina Valfurva.
